Saturday, January 26 8am-5pm Alternative and Integrative Medical Society (AIMS) 8th Annual Conference: Healthy Food, Healthy People, Healthy Earth: How we can revolutionize our health through sustainable food systems This conference is oriented toward students and the general public who have an interest in health and its connection to food, the environment and local food systems. The daylong event will provide a survey and practical summary of recent research, issues and discussions about the global food industry, local industrial agriculture and how that pertains to the individual. There will be particular emphasis on tangible ways in which people can be involved in alternative and local food systems. The scope of the conference will cover the interaction between food, society, and the environment. Scientists, health care professionals and other experts in the field will share the latest research and strategies in advancing environmental protection and human health through the food we eat. Their views will be presented from an integrative, complementary and alternative medicine (ICAM) perspective while maintaining scientific principals and an unbiased, evidence-based quality. Topics to be covered may include pesticide use, organic crops, sustainable food production, native and local foods, nutrition and raw foods.
