Product review: miessence

What are you feeding your skin? Organic skincare is the future of the beauty industry. If people are refusing to eat ingredients tainted with pesticides and synthetic chemicals, it only stands to reason that they will seek alternatives for their personal care products, up to 60% of which is absorbed into our bloodstream when applied.

How can something be natural if you can’t pronounce half of the ingredients on the label? If words you think of when buying personal care products include pure, ethical and organic, look no further. The philosophy of these personal care, nutritional and household products is minimal processing and cold formulated ingredients, based only on organic plant essences.

The organic movement started in the 1960s-70s with books such as Rachel Carson’s groundbreaking book Silent Spring about pesticide use and its resultant biomagnification, which effectively facilitated the ban of pesticides in the US by the early 1970s. The movement as a whole has grown into a market that primarily continues to reflect lifestyle changes among consumers and demand for healthier and safer foods, concern regarding the health risks associated with the consumption of unnatural food ingredients and about the use of hormones, steroids and antibiotics in the livestock industry.

International legal requirements have been implemented in regards to organic products. Developed in Australia, the One Group range of products is independently certified by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) to the highest international organic food standards. These products consist of 100% beneficial ingredients with no synthetic ingredients, and are so pure that they are literally edible.

ONE Group is carbon neutral - for all energy use in head office and global delivery they fund equivalent sustainable energy initiatives. For example, the One Group donates a percentage of their proceeds to the David Suzuki Foundation.
